Basic Info
Bio
I am a native sandlapper (South Carolinian) currently posted as a foreign service officer Washington, DC, having finished a two-year tour in Jerusalem. In my pre-Jerusalem life, I was an archaeologist, a much cooler job with much lower pay, and before that, I was a reporter for the Charleston Post and Courier. I share my home here with my partner of nearly 10 years and our dog Noostie (the cutest border collie mix on the planet), our two cats Koshka (a Russian blue princess) and Pishik (a dusty-colored dog wannabe), and our African Grey parrot Cayenne (who has a wide vocabulary and does a fine impression of the burglar alarm and the text message signal).

I am currently the President of Gays and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies (GLIFAA), the official Department of State employee group for LGBT employees. I am active in the efforts to achieve equality for LGBT foreign service families, and am an unabashed supporter of same-sex marriage.

The views expressed in this blog are clearly only my own and do not necessarily reflect the view of the U.S. Department of State. But hopefully, I just won't say anything that will even make you wonder.
